A poem inspired by current events and Brighid\u2019s own loss.<\/h2>

With the traumatic events of the past weeks and months, the idea of Brighid reliving the trauma of Her late son Ruadan came to mind. I\u2019ve seen families from other tragedies facing their trauma as it\u2019s played out again and again on the news. Why wouldn\u2019t deities experience the same emotions? Simply because deities are powerful and long-lived doesn\u2019t mean that They still don\u2019t feel the same things as we do.<\/p>

I haven\u2019t checked in with Brighid to see how She\u2019s doing, but this poem now has me considering Her own well-being.<\/p>

Weary Goddess<\/p>

Oh Brighid,<\/p>

what are You enduring now?<\/p>

I can only guess Your state<\/p>

as You watch others grieve<\/p>

Your own son lost through war,<\/p>

through feuds and trickery<\/p>

Past sorrows, still<\/p>

leaving Your heart to scream<\/p>

Now small-scale bloodshed<\/p>

rends families\u2019 hearts apart<\/p>

Even if Your Name doesn\u2019t ring in their prayers<\/p>

You know their anguish<\/p>

Is Your voice near-lost from use?<\/p>

Does Your heart grow weary, almost numb?<\/p>
